Laurice "Laura" Hawatmeh is a rising senior and first generation college student studying Mechanical Engineering. Motivated by her love for cleanliness, Laura aims to help foster a cleaner, more sustainable world by implementing practical engineering solutions. She believes environmental health and safety is in critical need of reform. As a member of a campus organization called Sustainable Housing at California, she is working on developing a sustainable tiny home that will house someone from Richmond's displaced population. Furthermore, she researches the environmental effect of wildfires as an undergraduate researcher at UC Berkeley professor, Alice Agogino’s, lab. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her cat, spending time with her twin sister, and crafting.
